Exhibition Day!!

I just presented, two times! I'm watching my other classmates present their project. I'll tell you how mine went. At first I was really nervous but then I knew that it was okay and that I knew my topic really well so I just went with it. I thought that Alma, my partner, did really well. I am excited to present tomorrow at 1 o'clock.

Language Fair for Latinas En Movimiento

Last night it was the Language Fair and I was really excited to tell the ladies about Latinas En Movimiento. I was able to talk to to 8 ladies and tell them about Latinas En Movimiento. It was harder than I thought to talk to the ladies because I was shy and there was a lot going on. But, I did convince a few to attend someday. There was also a lady that asked for two more cards to share with her friends. Also, the counselor at my school was doing some exercises with me and she is going to go with Ms. Davison to Latinas en Movimiento. I was really happy that I got some ladies to come to see what its all about ! I guess Together We Can Make Difference!!!

The Language Fair Was AWESOME for Kiva!

Yesterday was really great! My plan was to introduce Kiva to tons of people. I met 9 people and three of them actually signed up for Kiva! Also, two of them lent 25 dollars! I was really happy to see that the other people were interested and I was glad that they actually considered lending to Kiva.

Blocked website

It all started when I tried to go into a website to watch a video of Kiva.  I promised Ms.D i'd watch it so I was going to but then the screen said it  was blocked by the summit Middle school. I had to call Mr.Buehnes and ask to unblock the website. He's the one who blocks and unblocks the websites. He finally unblocked the website and now I invited him to my exhibition to show him why I needed the website. I'm really scared about the exhibition presentation.

There was a break?!?

Okay, so I went to the Silverthorne Rec-center to go to Latinas en Movimiento and meet Alma there. We were excited to go there. We met a woman there and she was also going. We were waiting and waiting for them to come. While we were waiting, we took some pictures of the woman and we asked her some questions. It was getting really late and they weren't showing up. I was getting worried. We asked the clerk and she said that every five weeks they took a break and today was their break. We were so embarressed but it was okay and a least we had some awesome pictures!

May the 7th !

On May the 7th is the language fair which I am going to show them the exercises that they do at Latinas En Movimiento. We are also going to talk about KIVA. I am so excited because that is like a little practice for us because when we do our presentation we are ready to present. YEY !!

Latinas En Movimiento , Again , Yey

Today is April the 29th . I am so excited that I am going to Latinas En Movimiento. My mentor , Ms. Davison , is going with me and I am going again because I need to remember the exercisers for May the 7th. I am also going to take pictires again for our project. Spring Break

Spring Break was really cool because I went to Texas. Though it was hot every single day I liked it. I went to my cousins house and I explained to my uncles and my cousins all about our blog, the project, and the organizations that we've found.( I couldn't blog in Texas because my cousins Internet is really slow!) Now my cousin (who is in 5th grade) is going to spread the news all over her school.

I Finally went to Latinas En Movimiento

On Wednesday the 15 I finally went to Latinas En movimiento. I was really excited because I would finally know more information about the organization. I spent the whole time with Cecilia which she is the boss of the organization. With Cecilia I did alot of exercise and alot of aerobics. I was shy when we were doing the aerobics because I was in front of the class with Cecilia. I also took lots of pictures for the project that I'am working on. I met new people that day and I also made new friends like, Cecilia , Jennifer and made more friends. In Latinas En movimiento they also have a child care in case the moms don't have a place where to leave their children and that is only $1.00 for the whole session. Jennifer and Cecilia told me to come back so we could do exercise together. I had a blast that day.

Exhibiton The Whole Day

On Friday we spent the whole day working on Exhibition. I got to research Kiva. When school started we immediately got to work on our project. I went to Mrs. Davison's room so I could research. Later Mrs. Griffith and Ms. Brickson were interviewing me to see what we are working on because on Wednesday some people from the t.v are coming to interview each group of Exhibition. My teachers were asking me some tough questions that I really had to think deeply. After all I got some work done and i had a good day and before I forget Mrs. Davison told me today that she donated the money for the group Mujeres Habilies. I had a fun day of Exhibition and a tiring day.

No Blog This Weekend

I couldn't research Kiva this weekend because some how my internet was disconnected. However, I am going to research right now since I'm in school with a computer.

We finally chose a group of Woman !

Today Marlenie and I finally chose the group that we would like to help. The name of the group is Mujeres Habiles Group. It will be also nice to help that group that is from the Republic Dominican. My teacher Mrs. Davison will be going to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and that is where the group lives. Mrs. Davison will try to donate some money today , so it will be so cool.

Enough Kiva For Today!!

Yesterday I went on the computer for an hour and a half trying search for KIVA! Today I also was searching for something in kiva for an hour! I think I know a lot about it now!

Business cards

I tried to make business cards for Latinas en Movimiento to send out on the day of the language fair and the presentation of exhibition. The truth is I'm not very good in making them. But I am trying to learn!! I am really trying to become accustomed to the mac computer.

Kiva

Kiva is a really nice organization. It helps people start their own business and make their lives better. It is not the same as donating money because they are loans and when a person raises enough money they pay you back! I made my own account and saw different people from different places that want to make a business and start fresh. I was very excited to donate but first we need plan on what we are going to do. Please comment and go to kiva!!!

Latinas en Movimiento (2)

Today I was lucky to meet with Cecilia from Latinas en Movimiento. I am so excited because I am going to go to Latinas en Movimiento on the 14 of April during our Spring Break. I am going to take a camera so I can take pictures. Marlenie and I want to show the people what Latinas en Movimiento is all about when they come to our presentation on May 7th during the Language Fair. We hope to encourage many Latin woman to come and get in shape, learn about nutrition and make some new friends. We also want to encourage English speaking woman to come to Latinas en Movimiento so they can be active and learn some Spanish too. That is our goal for all the woman in Summit County. We are really fortunate because we go to a school that really values two languages and people from different cultures. I know many English speaking families that want to learn Spanish and that makes me feel proud.

Latinas en Movimiento

We just attended the meeting of Latinas en Movimiento in Ms. D's class and I really liked what they were talking about. Erika was there an she actually introduced us in the meeting! We were really shy but the members welcomed us to the meeting and we got a few of our questions answered. They talked about how much it costs, where it is, and who is in charge. Plus, it's not only latinas but it is also everyone who wants to go.

Classroom Presentation

On March 31 Alma and I had to announce what our progress was. I was really scared and so was Alma. My teachers would ask us questions and we would really try to rally everything we did and tell our whole class! At the end we didn't have enough time to say everything we did. I was disappointed because all the other groups had enough time and the teachers stopped us halfway. My teacher said we were unprepared but I thought that we were just fine its just that they didn't give us enough time! I'm sort of mad because of that.

Peacexpeace

Peace X Peace sounds like a great organization! My teacher knows a person that works in the group and she might be willing to help us. I am excited!

Wikipedia

When I downloaded Wikipedia on the blog I thought to maybe test it out. I put the web Kiva and I looked at the screen. There it was the definition of Kiva and the definition was in italian! I made a mistake by downloading it in Italian. I fixed the language but if you still don't understand it, comment please!!:p

Latinas en Movimiento

Latinas en Movimiento is a group that helps latinas learn a variety of ways to improve their lives. We don't know for sure what they help with and how they help but Alma is connecting with the coordinator Lilliliana M at the moment. I hope we can attend one of their meetings.

Our Process

Our process started when we chose what we wanted to do. The first time the teachers introduced my class and I to exhibition. They shared different subjects on what we could do to help not only our society but, help globally! We brainstormed some ideas on what we could do and came up with the subjects: animals, community helpers, health, poverty, violence, and human rights. At first they asked us to write down our first and second choice on which we were interested. We gave it to them and after recess they told us which groups we were going to be. My choice was Human rights. (I want to be a lawyer when I grow up : ) no one else other than Alma chose it and I began to wonder if I made the right choice. Then, I was really thrilled because I considered myself unique.

After that I got so excited every time Alma and I met with the group! (Since there were two of us we had to join another group.) We were so pumped up that the teacher thought we could be in a group alone and that’s when SeƱorita D. came into the picture! Ms. Griffith set us up with our Spanish teacher so we could be in our own little group! Now we are buzzing all over the place with cool ideas. We go so fast that we have to write our notions down on our new blog! But that’s okay because I really think this is THE coolest project ever!

Two Interviews

We interviewed Sheriff John Minor and Erika Turner to see the various ways in which they help the community. They were both helpful in different ways. Marlene and Alma
